About Me

tips for quick moves and unpacking

As the wife of a soldier, I have learned a lot about packing and moving on little notice. Oftentimes, when my husband receives orders to move to a new base, it is something that must be followed out in just a few short weeks. After moving six times in five years, I have gotten the packing and moving process down to a science. I know exactly how to pack boxes so that I have everything that I need the minute that we arrive at the new home and I know how to unpack so that I only have to touch things once after we arrive. Find my tips here on this blog.

4 Tips For Moving A Pool Table

Are you planning on moving a pool table all on your own? Be aware that this job is going to require a lot of muscle, as well as moving supplies and planning. Here are some tips that will help you get this job done.

Gather Your Materials

You only need a few tools to disassemble your pool table. You should have a measuring tape, power drill, screwdriver, socket wrench, and pair of pliers on hand so that you're covered no matter how the pool table is put together. For moving the pool table, it will help to have bubble wrap, moving blankets, plastic wrap, plastic bags, and a moving box. A dolly with a set of ratchet straps will be helpful as well.

Plan Your Exit

You'll want to figure out how to get the pool table out of your home. You should measure the pool table, and then measure doorways to figure out which doors are going to be easiest to get the pool table out of your home. You should then clear the path going to the exit so that there is nothing you will trip over.

Disassemble The Pool Table

There are many things that can be removed from a pool table to make it easier to move and avoid damaging it. Rails and ball pockets should be removed, which may involve using pliers to remove stables or the screwdriver to remove screws that hold them in place. Those screws should be put into plastic bags and labeled with where they came from. Pockets, balls, and other pool table accessories can be put into the cardboard box.

You can then use your screwdriver to disassemble the legs. Put the tool table on its side to easily access the screws, remove them, and then place the screws in marked bags so you do not lose them. Place the bag of screws in the moving box as well.

Protect The Pieces

Each piece that you removed can be wrapped in bubble wrap to protect them. Secure the bubble wrap in place with tape so that it does not come loose. The pool table itself should now be light enough where it can be put onto a dolly and secured with ratchet straps. Cover it with a moving blanket to give it protection.

Now your pool table is ready to be moved out of your home and into a moving truck. Does this seem too difficult? Have a company that specializes in moving pool tables take care of it all for you.
